Sensorimotor Psychotherapy

Trauma is not only remembered, it is held. Sensorimotor Psychotherapy brings the body into the work so healing happens where the nervous system kept the record.

Sensorimotor Psychotherapy is a body-centered, somatic approach developed for trauma, developmental injury, and deep emotional distress.

Where talk therapy attends mainly to thoughts and feelings, this work also attends to sensation, movement, and posture — bridging mind and body rather than treating them separately.

How it works

01

Somatic tracking

We notice physical sensations, breathing patterns, and posture to understand how your body has been carrying stress.

02

Mindful movement and posture

Small, deliberate physical shifts allow self-protective responses that were once blocked or frozen to finally complete.

03

Nervous system regulation

We work to settle a nervous system stuck in overdrive or shutdown, so a felt sense of safety and balance can return.

What it can help with

Reaches where memory lives
Addresses trauma in the nervous system and body rather than relying on verbal processing alone.
Steadier regulation
Helps with anxiety, hypervigilance, numbness, and sudden emotional spikes.
A clearer read on your own signals
Builds an intuitive relationship with what your body is telling you.
Relief from held tension
Eases chronic physical patterns tied to stress, fear, or early attachment wounds.

Who it’s for

  • Feeling stuck in talk therapy, or finding feelings hard to put into words.
  • Experiencing the body’s side of anxiety and PTSD — muscle tension, tightness, panic.
  • Working through trauma, developmental and attachment wounds, or long-running emotional overwhelm.

Not sure whether this is the right fit?

We can talk it through first. Nothing is decided in advance — the approach is chosen with you, at your pace.
